All Positive Scientifically Proven Techniques

We believe that the best results come from teaching your dog the correct behaviors, responses and boundaries with kindness, patience and benevolent leadership.  We use all positive, scientifically proven dog training and behavior modification techniques, such as classical conditioning, operant conditioning, counter conditioning and systematic desensitization.

Learn to Understand Your Dog

Fact: Dogs don't speak English.

Fact: Dogs act like dogs, not like people.

Dog training becomes much easier when you understand how dogs think and how they talk with their bodies.  Trust us, dogs would never make you mad or unhappy on purpose....they hate it when you're upset.  How would you like it if you had to live with an alien family who didn't speak your language and had completely different customs? Have you ever seen two dogs greet each other by grabbing each other's right front paw?.... Have you ever seen two people greet each other by sniffing each other's butt?

Solving Behavior Problems

We'll teach you to stop your best friend from doing those irritating, destructive and downright embarrassing behaviors such as excessive barking, chewing, digging, separation anxiety, jumping up, leash pulling and even severe problems such as aggression, phobias and neurotic behaviors.  We know it's no fun to have your dog act like Cujo around other dogs, your veterinarian or the mailman.  Neither do we usually appreciate our dog's taste in re-landscaping our yard or redecorating our home.  And knocking over grandma and tackling the children can be downright dangerous!  Let us help you.  To get started, please check out our FREE articles on house training, separation anxiety and excessive barking.  For more detailed reading please also check out our favorite authors in the dog training links section.

A Well-Mannered Safe Dog

Dog training is more than just party tricks, it is essential to keep your dog safe.  Your little (or big) fur ball will learn to wait, sit, stay, lay down, come heel, leave it and drop it....just because you said so!  Better yet, your dog will learn to choose the correct behaviors on his own.

You'll also learn to handle your dog in a way that teaches him to like being touched.  Remember that last trip to the vet?....How about trimming those clickity nails?  After working with us, each of these activities will be a breeze!

How do dogs learn?  Find out the short version in our FREE articles entitled proper socialization and Oh Behave!

Bite Prevention and Child Proofing

In the U.S. there are an average of 4.7 million dog bites a year, 50% of those bites are to children and most of those bites are to the face.  The vast majority of biting dogs (77%) belong to the victim's family or a friend.  In our opinion, all dog bites are 100% preventable.

We all want to think our dog would never bite.  Are you sure about yours?  Most people are totally surprised when their dog bites someone.  We will teach you what makes dogs bite in the first place and how to make sure that your dog never bites anyone.  You will be able to take your dog anywhere with you and invite your guests over - worry free.  Even though we don't entirely agree with it's solutions, the following is an interesting web site about dog bites: Dog Bite Statistics from dogbitelaw.com.
